Dr. Shashi Bala Singh is presently Director, National Institute of Pharmaceutical Education and Research (NIPER), Hyderabad. Formerly, she was the Director General (Life Sciences), DRDO and director of two DRDO Labs, Dihar, Leh and DIPAS, Delhi. She obtained her Ph.D. degree in Human Physiology from All India Institute of Medical Sciences, New Delhi and D.Sc. degree in Physiology form Bharathiar University, Coimbatore. She has immensely contributed to the understanding of high altitude physiology. Dr. Singh is the elected Fellow of National Academy of Sciences, India, and Indian Academy of Neuroscience. She holds editorship in many prestigious journals. She had published three books and more than 170 research papers.
डॉ. शशी बाला सिंह वर्तमान में हैदराबाद में राष्ट्रीय फार्मास्युटिकल शिक्षा और अनुसंधान संस्थान (NIPER) की निदेशक हैं। इससे पहले वे महानिदेशक (जीवन विज्ञान), DRDO और DRDO की दो लैबोरेट्रीज, दिहर, लेह और DIPAS, दिल्ली की निदेशक थीं। उन्होंने अखिल भारतीय आयुर्विज्ञान संस्थान, नई दिल्ली से पी-एच.डी. और भारतियर विश्वविद्यालय, कोयंबतूर से फिजियोलॉजी में डी.एस-सी. डिग्री प्राप्त की। उन्होंने शरीर विज्ञान के उन्नयन हेतु अथक योगदान दिया है। डॉ. सिंह नेशनल एकेडमी ऑफ साइंसेज, भारत और इंडियन एकेडमी ऑफ न्यूरोसाइंस की चुनी हुई फेलो हैं। कई प्रतिष्ठित पत्रिकाओं में संपादकीय लिखती हैं। उनकी तीन पुस्तकें और 170 से अधिक शोधपत्र प्रकाशित हुए हैं।
