Description

Whenever we read about Bhagat Singh, the immortal son of Mother India, a question always arises in our minds: where did he find the inspiration, courage and strength to do what he did? He was not even 24 years old when he was hanged for his country. During his final imprisonment in Lahore (Punjab) Central Jail between 1929 and 1931, Bhagat Singh read extensively and internalised the ideas of great philosophers, thinkers, writers and leaders regarding freedom, justice, self-respect and dignity.

The notes he wrote in prison based on these studies are compiled in what is known as his 'Jail Diary.' Bhagat Singh wrote this diary to explain all Indians the true meaning of freedom and liberation, and how these priceless values could be reclaimed from the ruthless and merciless British, who had left the people of India in a miserable and state.

oppressed After Bhagat Singh's execution, this 'Jail Diary' was handed over to his father, Sardar Kishan Singh, along with his other personal belongings. Following Sardar Kishan Singh's death, the diary and other documents passed to his son, Shri Kulbir Singh and eventually to his son, Shri Babar Singh.

It was Shri Babar Singh's dream that the people of India should know about this 'Jail Diary' so they could understand Bhagat Singh's authentic thoughts and his perspectives. Bhagat Singh was a revolutionary, full of passion and zeal. This 'Jail Diary' is a must-read for every Indian, providing a glimpse into his unprecedented courage, patriotism and valour.
