"Even if Amit Shah hadn't become the country's longest-serving Home Minister, this book would have been worth writing. Watching such a political figure in action during my three-decade-long journalistic career is a remarkable experience. Whenever Parliament is in session, there's a constant anticipation of Amit Shah's address. As Home Minister, he has touched on complex issues that no one imagined would be possible in our lifetimes. For example, police laws dating back to the British era.
We had accepted that this would continue. The change in the draconian laws of the British Raj was a similar change to the Prime Minister's decision to shift from the old Parliament to the new. This was not only a timeless change but also a sign of a shift in mind-set. Now we want to build our own India, and we want to do it at every level."
