Sushil Kapoor has a post-graduation degree in literature and research work on expressionism. He has a chequered career as deputy editor in a News Agency, publication manager in a publishing house and senior assistant editor in a monthly newspaper. He also acted as a copywriter and later worked as the vice-president in an advertising agency for two decades. Besides this, he wrote articles, features, cover stories, plays, etc. for radio as well as various magazines. He has also written scripts for short films.
हिंदी साहित्य में एम.ए. तथा अभिव्यंजनावाद पर शोध कार्य। कुछ समय तक कॉलेज में अध्यापन के बाद एक पत्रिका के उपसंपादक बने। एक समाचार एजेंसी में उपसंपादक, एक प्रकाशन संस्थान में प्रकाशन-प्रबंधक, एक समाचार मासिक में वरिष्ठ सहायक संपादक रहे तथा एक विज्ञापन एजेंसी में दो दशक तक वाइस प्रेसीडेंट के पद पर काम किया। इसके साथ-साथ रेडियो व विभिन्न पत्र-पत्रिकाओं के लिए लेख, अग्रलेख, आवरण कथाएँ, फीचर, नाटक आदि लिखे। विज्ञापन एजेंसियों के लिए कॉपीराइटिंग तथा लघु चित्रों के लिए पटकथाएँ आदि लिखीं। प्रकाशन संस्थानों के लिए लेखन, अनुवाद, संपादन आदि किया। संप्रति स्वतंत्र लेखन।
